I now know why Charles Dickens invented the character scrooge. Christmas is great from January to November, but I want it to be over by the 1st of December.

HELLO AND YES IT IS BLOGMAS DAY 16!

scrooge

I want to be happy today, but I am feel like “Miss Muggins” today, because I eventually got round to doing my Christmas cards on Saturday, still got some to do and then yes I wrapped up a few more gifts in the early hours this morning, whilst I felt in the mood.

However this quickly faded. I don’t want to bring people down but I feel like I should share some home truths, and want to shout it out loud.

I now know why Charles Dickens invented the Character scrooge, because Christmas is great from January to November, but I want it to be over by the 1st of December.

Yes I know “THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY” but then you look at your bank balance, and see you have no money.

You get angry like I do wrapping those gifts, following hacks that can often be missed. When I can’t untangle the cellotape that rips off the paper to then really makes me miffed and then all I want is to get very pissed.

But how can I though with no bank balance to show.

I went to Waitrose to find out that I had no money on the go.

So lets make a deal from now on I will, no longer be spending on things that will bring me debt but all I want is happiness from the year to the next.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Blogmas day 17 blog will be coming tomorrow, so see you then whilst I find a way to bury my sorrow.

If you feel the dilemmas of Christmas then please share I be thankful for your message, and you can keep up to date by following me by WordPress you know and even click the like button if you feel this blog is relevant to you.

Talking shopping and meal ideas

Hi all Talking Shopping and Meal Ideas today as I love this sort of content and filming it. My favourite meal of the day is my dinner and I do like to plan my meals for the week and each day. I may not always write them down but I do still like to have a good idea of the dinners I wish to make.

We tend to do a shop on a Wednesday or early Saturday morning the best times and less busy. Talking shopping and meal ideas I am going to post multiple meal ideas we have.

Here is my first one a Chicken Stir fry:

We do like to have the odd take away not each week but on occasion and for me it is all about moderation.

I have now gotten into buying some vegan and Gluten free items like chocolate and I am a sucker for a cake or a biscuit, but I I am gonna try to eat more of these types of foods, as I do find I suffer with bloating and want to be more healthier.

I would say the system that works for us is to have magnetic board up in our kitchen and I mark of each meal we have had, as we go through the week and we stock up our freezer. I would not live without this item along with my slow cooker.

I have also filmed two other videos one is an announcement of my changes that I mentioned in previous blog New Year and new me

The other I have  filmed is about What’s in my Make up bag which I will add to another blogpost in a couple of days.

Watch “HOW TO STOP SPENDING MONEY 💸 (15 tips to stop impulse shopping + save money with minimalism)” on YouTube

HI ALL ITS ANOTHER DAY OF BLOGMAS.

DAY 12:

I’m starting this blog whilst waiting to help take my son to his school church service today, it is amazing how you can use such little time to do bits and bobs, Thank the lord for APPS AND SMART PHONES!

Image result for free images of apps and phones

This time of year we can spend, spend, spend, and be anxious at the same time because we are getting into debt as we do so. yet we have all these gifts to buy and birthdays too, like in my world, yet how can we save money and stop spending so we have more of it, without being out of pocket?

Please watch this video below about How to stop spending money, with 15 tips to stop impulse shopping and save money with minimalism.

This video is by Home Happy Life and they do great content like the video above.

I do believe you should treat yourself but if you are doing it 3 or 4 times a day, or you can’t just buy the one item and you feel that guilt where you know it will damage your self esteem and effect your relationships, which in turn leads to regret, then it isn’t a treat at all.

TREAT IS AN ITEM THAT GIVES YOU ENERGY NOT DESTROY IT! SO RATHER THAN BUY, INVEST AND CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO SEE HOW YOU CAN STILL TREAT YOURSELF WITHOUT SPENDING.

A treat doesn’t have to be a materialistic thing it can be anything,

Tips to treat yourself with less spending or even for free

So I hope this helps you with trying to not impulse buy, stop spending and save, and if you have other tips then please share if you wish. All comments can be shared below.

To keep ups to date with my blogs then you can follow me on WordPress.com and I will be blogging some more, I will be posting one more today on my site:

Watch “LIFE-CHANGING GIFT WRAPPING HACKS” on YouTube

BLOG NUMBER 2 FOR BLOGMAS DAY 15! PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER BLOG I JUST WROTE ON MY HOMEWARES PAGE ON CARRIESREALWORLD ABOUT STORAGE IDEAS, BECAUSE ASWELL AS USING ITEMS TO STORE THINGS IN YOUR HOME, THEY CAN ALSO BE GREAT TO USE AS GIFT BOXES AND HAMPERS TOO, AND YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE SOME ITEMS IN YOUR HOME THAT YOU MAY HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT, (see link below):

https://www.carriesrealworld.com/homewares/storage-ideas-for-the-home

To carry on with the home and Christmas gift theme, I wanted to share this video below of some gift wrapping hacks by Emily Norris, who does some brilliant Youtube content.

I love a hack and would often dread gift wrapping because I would lose patience and stick the sellotape in the wrong place, and they would end up looking like a total mess.

Gift bags are great and I do reuse these when they are given to me, but following these hacks below has helped me this year, and there are different ways to wrap gifts rather than the traditional old fashion way, which can create extra purposes for gifts of today.

So check out below and give them a go.

If you too have any hacks to share about gift wrapping or any hacks that will help me and my readers at Christmas because we can often get behind, then please share your comment below if you wish, and you can follow me too, by pressing the option below after this blog.

Please see links to my other blog sites where I will also be posting blog for this blogmas and what ever is in my mind:

Why Pottering around helps me get other things done and save me time. BLOGMAS DAY 7!

What is that yes its still blogmas, its day 7

HELLO AND WELCOME TO BLOGMAS DAY 7!

IF YOU HAVEN’T READ MY OTHER BLOGS FOR BLOGMAS THEN PLEASE CHECK OUT MY SITE https://www.carriesrealworld.com where you will find all my new and recent blogmas posts.

Welcome to Blogmas

In today’s post I am sharing more details of how else I like to save time, because my other post relating to this one How I save myself time and money, seemed to go down very well.

Here is why Pottering around helps me get other bits done and save me time.

Well basically  “Pottering around”  is one of my “favourite things” to go around the house without really thinking about it too much and just going with whatever I think or feel needs doing, because it stops me from being lazy and doing nothing.

PLUS IT USES UP TIME I HAVE SPARE AND DO THINGS THAT CAN TAKE TWO SECONDS AND I DON’T NEED TO DO AGAIN FOR A WHILE.

There is no system or method to it, its just putting things away, sorting things out and just having a general (no speed clean) but at a calm and steady pace and I often surprise myself of just how much I can ACCOMPLISHED.

Amazing how pottering around can save you so much time

DO NOT GET ME WRONG I AM NOT TRYING TO GLOAT OR SAY “LOOK AT ME” AND MAKE YOU FEEL THAT I AM THE PERFECT INSTAGRAM MOTHER WHO HAS THE PERFECT HOME AND PERFECT CHILD.

That will never be the case, it’s just that sometimes if you allow yourself to just do things as you see them, without worry, thinking too much and planning, it is surprising how you can still be productive without having to put it down on your to do list for the day and make the most of the time you have, that will help you to have more time to do other things in that day.

Last Wednesday I came home from dropping my son off at school and checked my watch and I had twenty minutes before an appointment I had arranged with my Keyworker.

This person has been helping me with my anxiety and I would recommend getting home help if you have it in your area, through the NHS if you are suffering with Mental health.

Here is what I did that day as I pottered around:

  • put the washing up away from breakfast into cupboards and draws where they belong, which lead me to cleaning the sink, that was on my to do list that day
  • cleared our laundry we had done the day before that was dry and took this upstairs
  • put the clean clothes away
  • then tidied the cushions on the sofa in the living room
  • Tidied any toys on the floor that my son had left that morning
  • Put items together that I need for my blogs and to do other bits I planned on the computer
  • Then sorted out a warranty that needed to be cancelled, to then go through my notebook to see if there was anything else I could do within that time.

I even potter around the house in the mornings before Henry goes to school.

A quick time saving tip# if I know I am cleaning upstairs the next day I will take the polish and cloth with me when I go to bed the night before, leave this beside my bed so I can then before Henry goes to school, clean upstairs without needing to go downstairs to get these cleaning items, to potter around so I can have a day to do other bits and bobs.

TRY IT. SAVES SO MUCH TIME!

Continuing on about last Wednesday before my appointment with my Keyworker. I could have done some more of my items on my to do list in my notepad, prior to pottering around, but some tasks like blogging for example I know will take some time and didn’t want to be half way through a post and then have to stop, as I most likely will forget what I wrote and then this could then lead me to take longer on a blogpost, not having time to do other things I had planned that day.

Another quick tip# circle or highlight all the items on your to do list that take no longer than 5 minutes, and they say do the longer things first, but for me this doesn’t help me save time at all and if you have appointments during the day you can’t always do the longer jobs first.

I don’t worry about that.

I do all the little jobs to then focus on the bigger jobs.

I even pottered around today after we (my husband and I) went to town to have our weekend coffee and get some bits we needed to clean our house. This allowed me to put the items away that we just bought upstairs, which then lead me to want to create some bits for my son to help him with his learning that I had been meaning to do for a while and meant I could tick off another item on my to do list, that I had been meaning to do for a while and then do other things.

WEEKENDS ARE THE BEST FOR POTTERING AROUND!

I find that the weekends are perfect for me to do some pottering around because I do have more time to catch up on tiding and get ahead for Monday and the week ahead.

WITH POTTERING AROUND YOU JUST GO WITH THE FLOW AND CLEAN AS YOU GO!

So if YOU don’t like to necessarily do a speed clean because you find you get flustered and you want to clean but still take your time then pottering around is

THE BEST THING!

Pottering stops me from procrastinating and doing nothing.

If you to are a fellow potterer and you have another method of saving time or a hack. I love hacks. Please share in the comments below.

10 Great Christmas Hacks

Welcome to Blogmas

BLOGGING EVERYDAY UNTIL 25TH DEC

Yes it is Day 4 of Blogmas and I have already written one post today on my website:

http://www.carriesrealworld.com

Sharing some Gift Ideas and Offers and be quick as a lot of the items are on limited sale and running out of stock.

Anyway in this blog I am sharing 10  Great Christmas Hacks. I love a good hack and so I hope these will save you a lot of time and money.

  1. Instead of using a Christmas stocking or wrapping paper, why not use a pillow case or even a single duvet cover. That’s what I am doing for my son this year and if you can sow why not sow their names on it or tie with ribbon with a label. As a kid this is what we were given as a stocking and can save you a lot of money on wrapping. Or you can use luggage bags, there are some I share on my first blog I wrote today (see above) on Groupon which would be great to put some little gifts in, and then they can use it as a luggage bag or storage aswell.
  2. Use clothes tags like I have done, which you get when you buy products and clothing and will do this, this year aswell and cover with craft paper and stickers so you don’t have to spend any money on a single label. Or like I have also done bought a box of 80 Christmas labels, for items and cards that need to be sent into the post, or even better print some of your own. I did that one year, can’t at the moment as printer not working, but can save you heaps.
  3. Rather than buying different types of wrapping paper for girls and boys, why not buy a huge roll of brown paper and if you can draw, draw some lovely picture on it to do something a bit different or use stickers. Write a little quote or a personalised message. And don’t be afraid to use other paper, I have some patterned wrapping paper not necessarily Christmassy but doesn’t mean I can’t use it and will just turn it into festive wrapping with stickers and ribbon, or even use washi tape if you have any.
  4. If you don’t want to get any more new baubles for your tree and do something that can get kids involved and they like crafting get some stencils which you can print free online or if you have programmes like Microsoft publisher for example and create some stencils, have them cut these out and make some stars, pictures of Santa Clause, baubles and use glitter, colouring pens, crayons to decorate, use a pin or a hole punch to make a hole, if you have some ribbon or string, tie that thorough the hole, make a knot and there you have your own created decor for your tree. You can also do the same for other decor, like create if you have a load of photos that your are not sure what to do with, make a collage, on paper with stickers, cards and craft paper, etc and use a frame out of paper or card too, and then you can get some good sticky removable wall stickers that you can stick the collage with on a wall and them easily remove and there you have some Christmas home made decor. Or like I have done with a frame upstairs, is have it on a windowsill for display.
  5. Not sure if this is really a hack but we do it when we buy a chicken or a joint of meat for our Sunday lunch and really saves us a lot of time at that is cook your turkey or whatever joint of meat your having the night before, and then all you have to do is bake the baked potatoes and vegetables.
  6. Use any pillow cases and duvet covers that aren’t being used as storage bags to keep your Christmas decor dust free and in a safe place where they won’t get broken, attack a label once filled and store in a cupboard ready to use for next year.
  7. One thing I have done is have everything for the dinner table already on Christmas blanket, like the napkins, with knifes and forks and spoons, take each corner of the blanket or table cloth carry it onto the table, straightened the cloth on the table and then laid out the place mats, coasters and utensils required without having to do it all bit by bit and you can do the same when tidying it away into the kitchen, saving yourself having to pick up little bits of food that can drop to the floor and then its just put all cutlery and table wear that can be washed in the sink and cloth if reusable into the washing machine.
  8. Any baubles you do have left over that didn’t make it onto the tree this Christmas why not make them to give a bit of extra decor into a pretty basket or you can even use a bowl, you can even use some dried fruit or pine cones and place onto a shelve on top of a your dashboard or on your dining table and you have your own free centerpiece. Check out my example of the one I created which I have done since last Christmas and it helps make the table glow even more.

9. If you want to decorate the banisters but you don’t want to buy a reef and spend too much then why not use some scarfs or thick ribbon, and attach some very cheap fake flowers.

10. If you want to create some hampers but you don’t necessarily want to buy loads of baskets and shredded paper, then why not use your own shredded paper if you have a shredder at home, or cut up some paper or you can even use cotton wall balls, and cover with some spare fabric, like cut up a blanket you no longer use for example, and use a storage box you no longer need and then you just buy some cellophane which isn’t expensive at all and then there you have your own hamper. The contents of the hamper doesn’t have to be a lot either. If you have any hot chocolate sachets that still got a while to expire that you haven’t used, a mug you no longer need but it is in good condition, if you have a bag that that has never been used, you can be as creative as you like and for example when making my sons own Advent Calendar this year please check out my last post on this site THE FIRST BLOG FOR BLOGMAS! Make your own Advent Calendar and bring romance back this Christmas!

I used some items that were from some previous Christmas crackers which had never been used. So there are so man things you can do to save yourself time and money, but still have a very merry Christmas.

THE FIRST BLOG FOR BLOGMAS! Make your own Advent Calendar and bring romance back this Christmas!

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE FIRST BLOG FOR BLOGMAS! If you didn’t know I will be posting blogs on one or more (seeing how it goes) of my blogging sites for 25 days from today until Christmas day.

THAT IS A WHOLE LOT OF BLOGGING BUT I AM SO READY SOOO LETS GO

The first blog post I wanted to write was about Making your own Advent Calendar and bring romance back this Christmas!

I made my son’s own Advent Calendar this year and yes I spelled Advent wrongly which I realised after sharing on Instagram, so I will add the D whilst son is a sleep tonight and hopefully he’ll my son will be none of the wiser.

You can make it as snazzy as you like and can be very cost effective way to save on Advent this year. I didn’t want Henry to just have chocolate because he eats that everyday and we want to cut down on his chocolate in take as too much is not good for them and I got the idea from watching a video by Louise Pentland about Advent Calendars and ideas for it.

I got my boxes from Amazon and it came as a huge bundle with string and came as 80 boxes so I will be using some for putting some Christmas Presents into, and will have some left over for next year.

Here is a link so you can see these boxes on Amazon along with the stickers:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QYL44F1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07YWG7CZW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07R4Y2WKR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A GREAT WAY TO MAKE A SAVING!

The stickers I bought separately. but again these came from Amazon too and again I have a lot left over so can use them for my planners, to add to my gift wrapping, there is so much I can do.

The items inside are some gifts my mum had from Christmas crackers from last Christmas that had not been used, I bought some packs of little cars, bikes and trains to go inside. Yes they were for 3 years + but I know Henry still loves playing with such things and so will get so much joy out of them.

These you can get from a local toy shop or stores such as Poundland.

I have added a few chocolates inside a few boxes, which were ones we had left over from halloween and my husband loves to get boxes of Roses, Quality Street and Heroes when they are on offer so used some of these and also included some experiences. These were a bus tour around London with mum and dad to see the lights at Christmas, which we have booked via Groupon.

This was with 56% off. A day at a zoo or farm and a visit to Battersea Park to play football and walk along the river during half term, because he really enjoyed that when we did that during Autumn’s half term.

You can put in what ever you want and whatever budget you have. I even used the paper hats you get in Christmas crackers to put inside some of the boxes, as Henry loves hats at the moment.

LET YOUR CREATIVITY GO WILD!

To Bring romance back this Christmas then instead of waiting for your spouse to do it, because lets face it not everyone has romance in their body and have no idea that you want more romance unless you say, create it yourself.

Romance is like the word success IT CAN BE WHAT EVER YOU WANT IT TO BE!

  1. Create them an Advent Calendar with promises you will make to them each day, example “I will stop assuming you know what I am thinking and will communicate better so you know what it is I want”. I often forget that Elv much as he is good at a lot of things, is not able to read my mind, and thankful that he can’t, but then I get annoyed because he didn’t do something that I had in my head. He can’t see what’s in my head unless I say, so one thing I have and will continue to work on is to not assume but say. You can make Promised, like to make them lunch everyday for work if you don’t already, take them to their favourite restaurant for a meal, and make a note of each promises so you remember too.
  2. Set a date in the Diary and plan a date night before Christmas without the kids. I love my son to the moon and back, but we all need that time to ourselves, alone and with our spouses, partners and loves ones, without being interrupted because your child wants a particular programme on the TV. Once you set a date stick to it and you don’t have to necessarily have to go out, out, but like me and my husband did yesterday. We were supposed to be watching football at our local club in Leatherhead, but the game got cancelled so instead we picked up some Fish N Chips and chilled and relaxed and watched some football on the TV instead.
  3. Good old fashioned breakfast in bed. I often and no I am not saying I am perfect because I know I am not, I will whilst I make a cup of tea and do my son’s brekkie will make Elv some toast, or even scrambled, fried or boiled egg on toast and take it upstairs so he can eat it with a cup of tea whilst watching some Saturday or Sunday morning TV.
  4. Use your days off and weekends to do something a bit different to the norm. Check out Groupon, Virgin Experience Days, Red Letter Days, etc for different offers on meals and experiences. Give that to your love one as part of their Christmas Advent Calendar or Christmas gift.
  5. Create a play list or a CD with all the songs that you and your spouse/partner/girlfriend/boyfriend love to listen to and marks certain parts of your’s and their lives. Example for us: A Groovy Kind of Love by Phil Collins, because this was our song that played when I walked up the aisle to marry my husband.

If there are other things you would like to add that I haven’t of how to bring romance back into your  life this Christmas then please share. You can leave a comment below.

BLOGMAS IS HERE! POSTING EVERYDAY FROM TOMORROW 1ST OF DEC TO THE 25TH DEC 2019

Blogmas 2019 image

YES, YES, YES! For the first time ever I am going to be doing Blogmas, where I will be posting a blog either on this site, on my main site https://www.carriesrealworld.com or my other WordPress sites (see links to these below):

https://everyonecanbuildacastle.com/

https://sportsandfitnesspassion.wordpress.com/

This will be everyday from tomorrow the 1st December to the 25th December, Christmas day.

I am not going to lie I am pretty apprehensive about it as there will be days where tiredness or busyness of doing other things may get in the way but even if it is sharing a video, about an article or book, etc I am going to post.

Already this morning as I have been preparing for this year doing Blogmas we have had a few strops, my son, me and my husband but the one thing that I love about my family is however much we may moan to one another we always laugh at the end.

Today it is Saturday and I have had a productive morning with doing a home workout whilst catching up on some Youtube, working on my blogs and giving my son his breakfast, and soon I will be getting mine and hubby’s breakfast on too.

So I am ready for the day, we are off to the football whilst my son spends time with his nanny (my mum) and visits Bockets Farm, which is great for kids as they do a Christmas event there, which is one of the reasons why Henry is going and is going to spend sometime with his cousins too.

I wish you all a great day and please look out for my posts which I will putting up on my Pinterest and social media accounts aswell, and lets get this show on the road!

I am glad that Christmas isn’t everyday

Image result for Free merry Christmas image

I was going over what to write in this weeks blog and the song “I wish it could be Christmas everyday” by Wizzard came into my head, because in thinking about this song, I am glad that Christmas isn’t everyday. If it were we all be skint by the first week of January and more in debt, the shops would be endlessly busy and having your Christmas lights on all year round would make the utility bills go up and to be honest I’d be done with Christmas by the first two weeks of the year. It would be like “Okay I’m done with Christmas can we move on now?”.

However it doesn’t stop me from getting into the spirit. In fact I have today put up some more decorations including our Christmas tree in the living room. There is more to be added, but glad I have made a start.

The one thing I do to save myself money is have an artificial tree and we have one which sprinkles snow over the tree and is great as we can pack it away in its box it came in and into our shed once Christmas has finished for the next year, and one thing we can already cross off our list.

I use baubles not just for decorating on our tree, but around the house too. You can get some cheap hooks from places like Wilkos and hang baubles around the house. Once christmas is done if you get the hooks with stickers they can be easily be taken off the wall without leaving a mark.

I do buy a few new items mainly from Poundland or from charity shops. Check out Youtube channels such as Life at the cottage and Kate McCabe

They often do charity shop hauls which can give you ideas of what good finds you can get from such shops. However do browse around because even in charity shops the price on Christmas decor can be just a pricey so do your research, and remember that a lot of stores will be trying to get rid of their Christmas stock in January so have a look around then for Christmas decorations too.

After watching a video on Youtube by Life at the cottage where she did a recent haul her last thrift Tuesday video for this year, it gave me an idea of next year buying gifts from charity shops or handmade. I have bought gifts for people from charity shops before, but this year I kind of forgot to look in these stores and I can not for the life of me workout why, because this is one thing I regularly do. However I am going to next year or go handmade.

The other thing I am saving money on this year is selection boxes. I will not be buying as really my son for example has chocolate all year round so why would giving him a selection box be any different? Instead I am going to get some Christmas chocolates to perhaps hang on our tree or to put into his stocking instead, or even which is quite popular with my son and nieces too, chocolate coins. These always go down well.

So I am going to be on my way and get on with the rest of the day, and will post again on this site again next week. Until then have a good rest of the week and don’t let Christmas stress you out. If you need to scream into a pillow then do so or have a relaxing bath, then do that too.

Let me know how you save money at Christmas and if you would like Christmas everyday. You can leave a comment below.

How I save myself time and money

Almost wrote this on the wrong site, but in some way this information can apply to parenting too, because lets face it being a mum or dad you are juggling a lot of things. it can be very much a balancing act.

I have been posting on this site on a Sunday, but thought whilst hubby and son were out getting petrol, I would take advantage.

I wrote a blog post similar to this one, please check it out: How I save myself time during the days and weeks ahead/A Productive weekend

The key thing for me is GETTING AHEAD OF MYSELF! I wrote a blog on my site:

https://theparentingadventurestipsandtricks.wordpress.com/

Arranging a birthday party/Never try to please everyone its truly impossible

Where I talk about getting ahead of myself. Its what I live by at the moment to help stop me from getting overwhelmed because it is a very busy time of year, like it is for a lot of people, as I have many birthdays before Christmas and helps me get organized.

One tip# How I save myself time and money, by thinking of each step before it is done. You do especially being a parent have to be flexible and adaptable, because often the plans go out of the window but this also helps you should you end up with a child who is sick or an adult even.

1. Always if you have children take change of clothing out should they get sick like a vomiting or diarrhea, even when they are no longer babies, because kids can get sick anywhere. Often there is no warning, but least you have planned ahead, should this occur and have your health visitor and doctors number should you need to make an urgent appointment to see them.

2. Have Calpol to hand and paracetamol, and if they do offers in your pharmacy on such items, which they often do this time of year, take advantage. Like Boots a UK pharmacy, they will often do special offers or give you a voucher if you have Boots card to use on your next purchase. Make sure you check the valid from and expiry date before using.

3. Save for Christmas and birthdays like your children a year or so ahead, and have some idea of what you plan to buy as gifts and where you will be having their birthday or Christmas meal or party some time before hand too. Yes this may change as children’s minds change, but once you have some idea you can easily adapt and make as you get nearer to the day any changes way before, so some items you can tick of your list and prepare should any last minute items come up.

4. Any Christmas dinner and parties you need to arrange, make sure you book way ahead of time usually as soon as venues and restaurants begin to advertise as many can be booked up very quickly.

5. I will use my free weekends to catch up on errands and chores because helps save time in the week, and the same applies for my blogs and writing my books too.

6. One item I used on my parenting blog above, which I wanted to include here, because it is very relevant this time of year, is any store cards like if you have a Boots card, save the points you have earned to help pay for gifts for people or medicines you may need. Make sure if you have a Boots card that you pick up the free Boots magazine, as they will have coupons and vouchers in this too. If you haven’t got a Boots card, then you can still pick this up, but you will have to pay for it instead.

7. If other parents who’s children are in the same school and class and ask if you if would like to participate in making or putting a few quid towards a gift for the teacher opt in. Saves you a lot of time and money. Of course if they ask for an extortionate amount you have to choice to opt out too, everyone’s budget after all is often different however most, well I would like to think, will say any amount is welcome and I usually will give £5 towards a gift and help getting my son involved help make the handmade gift too.

8. Always pack items that you are wearing and your children will wear the night before, and set any own clothes days and event days at your children’s school and diary on your Calendar, paper or digital because lets face it, it is easy to lose track and forget. One thing I learned recently to do, and I always us Google Calendar because it is free and you can check it everywhere you go.

9. If you fancy some TV time to yourself but don’t often get the chance, which is quite regular in my case, set a day and time in your calendar too. We often just need that time to do other things other than chores and look after our kids. I tend to use the days off whilst son is at school even if it is for half or an hour. Of course if you work full time, then I tended to use the evenings, and when I do my exercising I set my alarm and extra half hour early before my son and hubby are due to get us or whilst cooking dinner in the kitchen, in the evening. Alternative my husband will do his exercise and catch up on TV when my son and I have gone to bed at night on some evenings too.

10. Clean as you go and whilst you are waiting. Example whilst I was waiting for the kettle to boil to sterilize one of Henry’s cup which I do still recommend to do especially if they take them to school, because it is surprising how many germs they can pick up if not careful, I did a bit of dusting in my Living room and a quick clean is just as a effective as a long cleaning session as it helps get ahead and stay on track.

So I hope this information was helpful and if you have any other tips of how to save time and money please share, I love sharing these types of tips and ideas and when others do too. All comments can be left below.

Stress free Christmas/Get ahead of yourself

Christmas decor picture 1
This is a image of our home we decorated for last year 2018.

I love blogging on a Sunday so I think I am going to continue to do so for this blog as Sunday’s is more or less a free day for me at the moment so going to make the most of it.

Last week I started a new job so couldn’t blog as much as I wanted, so using the weekends to catch up is really helping. Today I purchased my first Christmas present. OH YEAH!

If you want a stress free Christmas you have to get ahead of yourself. I hate rushing and this week I had to do a lot of that, because it was my mums birthday, my brothers and my son’s party yesterday, and had another birthday today.

I wrote a blog on my site: https://theparentingadventurestipsandtricks.wordpress.com/

I shared a blog giving some tips and tricks on Arranging a kids party and not try to please everyone because it is truly impossible. However it did go well everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, next year I will plan it a bit better, but I won’t be doing a party every year, I already have an idea of what I will do, so going to save once tomorrow is over, from this Tuesday coming for next year.

  • This is one tip I would share on this site about Christmas, start saving as soon as Christmas is over for next year, it saves a lot of time and gets you ahead of yourself.

Getting ahead of myself is what I live by at the moment, because if I can save myself time for the next day, I know this will leave me time to have for myself and not get overwhelmed.

I wrote a blog this week on my site: https://everyonecanbuildacastle.com

About never try to be perfect and create good habits instead. I live by this too, because no one in this world is perfect and so I stopped trying to be, instead I do what I can, when I can, but if I can save myself a bit of time then I do it, and this is a good habit to get into.

  • The other tip I would give about Christmas and birthdays, is save those points on your store cards as much as possible. I love my Boots card and if you shop at Sainsbury’s save those Nectar points, because that’s how we paid for one of our shops over one Christmas and great way to save yourself money and time.
  • If you see any Christmas items such as table wear, clothes or gifts for people get them as they usually start doing better deals way before Christmas when the stock starts coming out, which this year was about August. The closer you get to Christmas the higher price of some of the items will usually be.
  • Another tip is set a date in your diary of when you will sit down and plan for the festive period. You can do this as early as you want to, its up to you. Even though I save, I tend to wait until all the birthdays are done in November and this year I am going to start from the 26th November. Getting that one present today, as helped me get myself ready and can tick one item on the list, however there is still more to do, so just sitting down and planning is a great way to go over what you really need and stop unnecessary purchases and not over spend.
  • Only spend what you can and remember the price tag isn’t important as even making a gift can still be truly special and more personal.
  • Always have a budget and have a list.
  • If you are stuck on what to buy as gifts then do ask your friends and family, what they will truly want. Don’t be shy about giving gift cards, as sometimes giving a gift card saves you time and gives them a choice of what they want, rather than buying them an item they will later return.

So I am going to get on with some more bits I need to do before tomorrow as I have another busy week ahead. Not as much as last week, but as life there is always something to do, well in my life there is anyway.

Have a great rest of the weekend people and see you in the blog next week, which will probably be next Sunday. Have a good week ahead.

If you have any more tips about how you plan and get ready for Christmas and birthdays then please leave a comment below, I would love to hear from you. I love sharing tips such as these online, its a great way to spread the word and help others make their lives easier too.

Blogging on a Sunday/Home for Halloween

Blogging on a Sunday. Very unusual for me, but really wanted to. This week just gone was my Son’s half term, check my new blog on my parenting tips and tricks site called “Handling half term blues/time for spooks today“Which I wrote on the day of Halloween.

We didn’t do any trickle treating, but I made some funny faces on our dinner, and we decorated our home for Halloween too.

I am not comfortable with knocking on people’s doors saying “Trickle Treat” not these days, but perhaps when Henry is older perhaps we will do more on Halloween. We, my hubby and I just want our son to know about the day and if he wants to trickle treat in the future then perhaps we will.

I have literally 10 minutes before my mum brings my son back home, as he spent some time with Nanny today, for a change whilst my husband and I got to do some other bits such as I tidied up our (my husband’s and I) bedroom, whilst my husband did some fitness training and then we had some soup. Heinz of course. You can’t beat a nice can of Heinz soup especially in the Autumn and Winter, when it is dreary and cold outside.

We have made our own soup, but when the likes of ASDA do a sale, and no I am not sponsored by ASDA or Heinz in anyway, on tin soup we take advantage.

In a weeks time it is my son’s birthday and I will be posting some blogs about this, to others who may have some children’s birthdays coming up and need some tips and tricks.

You don’t have to spend a fortune by any means, but allow them to celebrate their day with their friends and family.

I haven’t caught up on Strictly but at the moment we are catching up on Killing Eve, a series on BBC 1.

Sundays for me is about catching up on Errands, some TV, doing some exercise, as I have begun to do my Sunday morning run again, along with some training indoors of weights and I will post a blog about this on my site: Sports and Fitness Passion.

Who love Sunday roasts?

I love them, and look forward to having a Sunday roast or a slow cooked stew or casserole.

So what do you do on a Sunday? Do you like to chill and catch up on errands?

What did you do for Halloween?

I would love to hear from you. You can leave a comment below.

When the autumn comes and it begins to get colder

Image result for autumn quotes leaves on a tree free images

Suddenly the weather has begun to get colder and when the autumn comes it starts to get darker early, the leaves all fall from the trees and its time for coats, scarves, hats and gloves.

For me what I love about this time of the year is being cozy indoors with a nice cup of hot chocolate, or a cup of tea, listening to some music, watching a film, with my husband and son. I have already begun listening to “Last Christmas” and also like a good festive book.

Getting up in the mornings is harder as it begins to get colder, and you are nicely warm tucked up in bed.

The food I love this time of year is a good slow cooked meals, such as a sausage or beef casserole, a lovely roast on a Sunday and on Saturday, this one coming we are planning on having some homemade kebabs.

Easy to do:

  • Get some diced meat of your choice
  • Peppers and mushrooms
  • Kebab sticks

Then you are good to go.

Half term this week and next. My son is off next week, and going to spend a lot of it as I see it, you never know with children and transport problems if it goes to plan or not, but going on many buses and trains, visiting some places in London.

If you are doing the same then I would recommend in getting an Oyster card rather than a Travelcard because this can add up to be more expensive. You can touch in and out of stations and buses with a debit or credit card, but with an Oyster card you just put the amount you want on it, and then it is easier to keep tabs on what you have spent and how much you have left.

Image result for halloween free images

Then it is Halloween, and today I in a moment will be getting out my Halloween Decor out, to decorate the home. We mainly decorate our living room area. We want our son Henry to experience the seasonal celebration days such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter.

Image result for Christmas market free images

I love a Christmas market and will be planning on seeing visiting even if I don’t buy anything. Having a Christmas drink in the coffee shop, one of my favourite things at Christmas. They can add on calories so will only be having a few, but nevertheless will be taking full advantage when I do.

So lets put on some tunes, getting cozy with the heating on if your are cold and lets enjoy our festive comforts. HAPPY WEDNESDAY EVERYONE!

Taking some well earned timeout

Taking some well earned timeout, is often needed and this weekend we did.

Image result for Taking some well earned timeout free images and quotes

Last week was good, Henry got to dress in yellow for #helloyellow day at his school to raise money for young people with mental illness. Check out my blog I wrote about How to look after the mind on my website https://everyonecanbuildacastle.com/ for #mentalhealthday2019:

I also did another run last Thursday up at the #southbank in London, check out my sports and fitness passion blog about how I am On the Road to Recovery.

I posted a Homewares blog about Homewares for the Autumn.

On Friday, the one just gone I updated my website https://www.carriesrealworld.com to add the blog posts I had written in the week, to continue to promote and help raise funds see my Facebook page for #mentalhealth.

However come the evening of Friday I was completely and utterly wiped out. I could not do anymore. It was time to rest and recuperate. So got my son into bed, so I could go to bed and did not budge until the next day.

Come Saturday a start of a new day I had slept well and got my son’s breakfast ready, had a cuppa, got him dressed ready for the day, wrote another blog called Effective Communication/Getting kids to Make Decisions, did some homework with Henry, got myself ready for the day and then mum picked up my son, so my hubby and I could have some well earned time together just the two of us, whilst my son when to #bockettsfarm.

We went up to, guest where, twice in one week. The #southbank in London again.

Check out my Instagram:

https://www.instagram.com/cazzasrealworld/?hl=en

It was of course raining, and yeah we got wet, but we still had a really good day. As parents you just need that time to yourself and we chatted, laughed, reflected, had a few drinks and then went back home for something to eat and then went to bed.

There is a pub called The Vault under #towerbridge. Very expensive, £9.70 for a half of cider and a pint of Guinness, plus the toilets were out of order. Not impressed, nice pub but too expensive and so will not be going back.

Walking back I did manage to find a toilet, in London Bridge station and I have got to say, I do like the way it has been recreated. So much nicer and you get a good vibe now with these stations. I remember years ago when they looked like they had been down trodden and uncared for. There is a Hamleys in the London Bridge station now, so my hubby and I had a little look. I will be returning, not to that one as it is a bit small but the one in Regent’s Street in London.

They have some brilliant toys for kids of all ages and often have some items, especially this time of the year on sale.

We had a drink in the BFI along the Southbank and the Waterloo Tap, which sells natural beers, stouts and ciders.

The weather didn’t stop us. Come Sunday we went into Epsom, had a coffee and did a bit of shopping. I like the Halloween items in TK Maxx. They have some brilliant items which I will be sharing and some lovely planners for 2020 aswell.

Wilko Halloween Decor, not so great so far. Not sure if there is more to come, but there seemed to be more Christmas and less Halloween in our local one.

Once visited the shops we returned home. I was tired as i hadn’t slept well on Saturday night, so had a little nap. I had really bad indigestion and I put it down to having the left over picky bits we had on Saturday evening after our walk up the Southbank. I will not be eating Doritos again, as they had to be the culprit, due to having such problems before. Sometimes you have to admit defeat.

Nevertheless I still enjoyed Sunday. We had dinner at my mum and stepdad’s. A lovely roast. I would have taken a photo but as always I ate it before I remembered to do so. Not to self will remember next time as my step dad’s roasts are truly special.

I did catch up on Strictly Come Dancing on catch up. So far my favourite is Kelvin Fletcher. Brilliant and outstanding so far. Great replacement. Not seen the results so who knows. Here is his Charleston.

Anyway, I hope you had a good week and weekend. Let me know what you did this weekend and of any places you recommend going to visit, I love such feedback. You can comment below. I love exploring and am so looking forward to visiting a Christmas Market this year. I know, still a few months to go but it isn’t far and so going to enjoy it when it finally comes around.

Here  is another site I post regular blogs on:

https://theparentingadventuresthebirthofmyson.wordpress.com

So here we are another Tuesday and already its time to put the dinner on. Have a good rest of the week everyone and will post on this site again next week. BYE FOR NOW!

How I save myself time during the days and weeks ahead/A Productive weekend

Alarm clipartsHow I save myself time during the days and weeks ahead is by having A Productive weekend.

What I don’t get completed during the week before the weekend, I get done at the weekends and get myself ahead for the week to come.

I make sure I give myself some time in the morning and evenings to get bits finished, like this morning I did my dusting and on Sunday I cleaned the kitchen so I didn’t have to worry about it too much come Monday.

When I take my shower I have my shower cream, feminine wash and face wash already there near the shower to use and take my towel, moisturizers, clothes and underwear in the bathroom too, so I can take my shower, brush my teeth and put these on, without having to go into another room to do that. I have it all there ready, and it really saves me so much time.

After I have showered before I put my creams and clothes on, I brush my teeth as soon as I get out of the shower, which allows me to drip dry for a few minutes and then towel dry. Again really saves me so much time.

When it comes to scheduling and planning the days and weeks in my notebook and filofaxes I will do this on a Friday and in the week, as soon as I need to add something to them, or I know what I will be doing on those days and weeks ahead.

I put many of my to do’s in my To do’s APP on my phone and I can carry this wherever I go and don’t need to carry around a heavy notebook, same with adding appointments and scheduling my days, I always add these to my Google Calendar.

I use Google Docs to create my Inventory lists, meals plans, my budget which I update regularly to keep myself on track of my finances and my notebook APP to do my shopping lists.

I have shopping lists for:

  • Food
  • Cleaning
  • Items for Henry (my son)

What I can prepare for dinner that evening I do during the day e.g. Putting vegetables in a saucepan, have the ingredients we need out already near the hob and have a baking tray ready to heat up, should we need the oven that night.

In the evenings I have mugs ready for the night and morning, by the kettle as my husband and I will usually have a cup of tea during the night and then a couple in the morning to help kick start our day.

The Sunday gone I for the first time this part of the year got out our Slow cooker to make a Beef Casserole, which we do intend to do during the autumn and winter months.

I would recommend a slow cooker to each and every household, as they really help save a lot of time and on a Sunday it is just perfect as I do like to have some chill out time at the weekends too, especially on a Sunday.

So I took advantage and they are great because you can chuck everything in, prepare in the morning and all cooked and ready to service by the afternoon or evening.

All you need is:

Whilst I am cooking I will do some cleaning, do my stretching or catch up on some Youtube, an audio book (check out audible, I love this APP and have quite a few books saved, as you get free credits each month) or listen to Podcast or some music. I will usually select one of my playlists on Youtube

At the moment my favourite Youtube videos to watch are ones done by a lady called Jordan Paige’s. Her Youtube channel is  called FunCheapOrFree.

I absolutely love her videos and content it is so informative and I do use many of her productivity and financial strategies. They really do help.

The other ways I like to save time on days and weeks ahead, and have a productive weekend is also use the free time I have to take my son out, so he can get some fresh air and exercise. If he behaves we go to the park if not we don’t and it is a strategy that does seem to work and our son will behave, he just doesn’t like going into shops at the moment, but we are working on that.

We are having some issues with our son at the moment and I wrote a blog over the weekend called When times are tough talking about it and how I deal with times when parenting can be tough, on my WordPress site: theparentingadventurestipsandtricks

This Sunday just gone we, my husband, son and I, had a lovely walk, walking through our local common which passes the railway line so Henry who loves trains, can see them and watch them as they go by.

We then went for our usual coffee, something we love to do at the weekends especially on a Sunday and then ran some errands.

On the Saturday we took our son to see the local football team, Leatherhead FC. I would recommend this if you and your children love football to go and support your local club or lower league football team, it is a great laugh and doesn’t cost that much at all, if you are like us and can’t always afford to watch a higher league team, then this is a great alternative.

This morning whilst I was waiting to go to my Diabetic Review at my local surgery, used the time to have a coffee, draft up this blog ready to type up for when I got home and then when I was in the surgery waiting to be seen, did some reading and checked some emails.

I also used the time before having a coffee and after my appointment to fit in some walking, as I like to especially since having type 2 diabetes (I was diagnosed last year) like to keep active and one of the ways I like to do this, is by walking.

I regularly post the steps I have done on my Instagram account everydaylivingandlifestyle

I write a blog on WordPress.com called sportsandfitnesspassion where I write about my weekly training and fitness. Check out my last blog on this site called Walking through the pain.

Walking really helps me with creativity and clear the mind.

If you would like to read more about productivity, then I do post a lot about this subject on my WordPress site called, everyonecanbuildacastle.

Here is a video by Jordan Paige talking about how she is more productive…without doing more:

She is like my productive and financial guru.

So I really hope you found this blog useful of how you can save time and have a productive weekend.

I would love to hear from others of how you save time?

Great blog I was the same and it’s amazing how one small change can lead to another to experience more glorious things but make you feel more happy within yourself.

CoffeeMamma

I’ve had an epiphany.

Alright so I’m sure if your a returning reader here at The Coffee Mamma that you have probably read posts of mine about how much I loveeeeee coffee and how much I hattteeeee Decaf. Or some of the good and bad experiences I have had with coffee all together.

Or maybe you’re new here and have only gotten a chance to see some of my newer posts like The Mommy Blogger Tag or one of my current favorites and personally my most exciting post this Fall season Coffee Mamma’s Fall Bucket List.

Either way there one thing that’s obvious here. I am a mother who loves her child and her coffee. Recently though, I’ve had an epiphany. I’ve grown so much as a person and I’ve been learning new things every day. Today I thought I’d share with you one of the many ways I’ve…
